Jerry
Green
October 13, 1929 – April 10, 2024
Jerry Dean Green was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, April 10, 2024.
Born October 13, 1929 in Dalhart, Texas, the son of Jerry Almerian Green and Stella (Joslin) Green. He was the youngest of six living children. He spent most of his youth in Cortex, Colorado, but was sent to Waxahatchie Bible School to be under the supervision of his older brother, Verl, after his father's death when he was 12. He returned to Cortez where he attended Montezuma High School, enjoyed playing football, and was reunited with a childhood friend, Audrey Luetta Amrine. Both knew they were meant for each other and were married October 15, 1947. At the age of 19 they became parents (Judy (Duzenbury), and over the next 10 years had three more daughters, Kaylene (Randall), Margie (Stout), and Jerri (Benge). They became very close to a young couple in the church in Midland, Texas, and after the death of their parents "adopted" Jackson and Anna Bayliss as their 5th daughter and son-in-law.
Jerry worked as a Geophysicist for Shell Oil Company for 32 years which moved the family from Colorado to New Mexico to California to New Mexico to Texas. He and Luetta loved traveling and visited all 51 states usually accompanied by family and enjoyed most of what each state offered. At age 55 he retired, moved to Michigan, where he worked as a Geophysicist for Woods Geophysical for 10 years. At 65 they moved to favorite vacation spot Vallecito, Colorado where they lived 10 years. Then at 75 they found their final home, Sun City, Georgetown, Texas where they have lived and loved family, friends, neighbors and their church families.
Jerry enjoyed a thirst for knowledge and was always learning new trades (carpentry, plumbing, electronics, auto mechanics, computers, rock, watch repair, jewelry making, photography to name a few) and loved to use his knowledge to help others. He loved people and thus enjoyed a life full of friends spread across the country; always just a phone call away. His life was a testimony to his love for Jesus and his desire that all he met would know Jesus as Lord and Savior and encounter the love of Christ Jesus thru him. It was his hearts desire that all his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildred know his greatest blessing of salvation and experience a life of blessing in Christ Jesus. His wife and family; children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren were his second greatest blessings. Many of his grandchildren have expressed how Grandpa's life has tremendously influenced their lives.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Luetta; his four daughters, two sons-in-laws, thirteen grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Jerry's life verse: Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.
