Obituary

Jaydeep Patel, 62, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026 in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his beloved wife of 34 years, his two sons, and his brothers, sisters, and his many nieces and nephews.

Hindu rites, services, and cremation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11 A.M. at Ramsey Funeral Home and Crematorium in Georgetown, Texas.

Jaydeep was born in Bombay, India to Natwarlal and Vimalaben Patel on February 13, 1964. He went to school in Anand, Gujarat, India where he grew up. Jaydeep graduated with his Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University in Vidyanagar, Anand, India. He married Amita Patel on February 8, 1991 in Karamsad, India and moved to Austin, Texas and established their home in Wells Branch. A lifelong dedicated Chemist, Jaydeep worked for the State of Texas, first at the Texas Department of Health and then at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Ever a consummate public servant, his life’s work focused on protecting the public health of Texans for over 32 years, receiving multiple awards and duly deserved recognition; he was not ready to retire yet nor bask in any of the attention.

Jaydeep is preceded in death by his birth parents and his beloved parents, Jashbhai and Shantaba Patel, who brought him up when his birth mother died when Jaydeep was 4 days old. He is also preceded in death by his older brother Jitendra Patel, his father-in-law Ramesh M. Patel, and his brother-in-law Bill Spelman.

Jaydeep is survived by his beloved wife Amita Patel, his two sons, Kushal and Visharg Patel, mother-in-law Ramila Patel, brothers Mahesh (and Alka) Patel, Yogesh (and Rupal) Patel, Hiren (and Shilpa) Patel, sisters Deviyani (and Ashwinkumar) Patel, Sukeshi Patel (and late Rajeshkumar), Mayuri (and Sureshkumar) Patel, Alka (and Vipinkumar) Patel, sister-in-law Shobna J. Patel (wife of late Jitendrabhai), sisters-in-law Niyanta Spelman and Snehal Patel (and Arnoldo Medina) and numerous nephews and nieces, and too many extended family and friends to list.

Jaydeep’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Cardiovascular Team at Ascension Seton Main in Austin, Texas for their dedication, professionalism and unparalleled care for Jaydeep; in proper fashion, he won over the team as he did wherever he went in his life and many travels.

In lieu of flowers, if anyone so wishes the family asks for donations to be made to the American Heart Association in Jaydeep’s name.
