James Dean Shoemaker, born September 16, 1953, died of natural causes at his home in Georgetown, TX on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He was 71 years old.

James lost his wife of 38 years, Catherine Shoemaker, in March of 2020, also due to natural causes, at their home in Beaumont, TX.

James was known to family and friends as Jim, but as Dad to his surviving sons Bradley O. West (with husband C. Beau West) and Brian M. West, and as "Buddy" to his godson & brother-in-law, Lawrence "Larry" Miller Jr.

Following his retirement as Circulation and Branch Manager from the City of Beaumont Public Library in 2020, Jim moved himself and Larry to Georgetown, TX, to be close to family, including his brother William Shoemaker (his wife Nancy Shoemaker) and Catherine's brother Dominic Miller (his partner Alan McLaughlin).

James will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his soul find eternal peace.
