James Herman Ramay, 101, of Georgetown passed away on his birthday March 15, 2019. He was born in Hartford, Arkansas to his loving parents, Burl Augustus and Lydia (Gervinho) Ramay.
James will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. with Military Honors by the United States Army on a date to be announced.
James graduated from Ouachita Baptist College with his Bachelor of Science Degree. He is a veteran of the United States Army, having served in both WWII and the Korean War. He served his country honorably from March of 1941 until April of 1962, retiring as a Major.
For 54 years, James was the devoted husband to Sue (Rogers) Ramay and the loving father to Michael and Lynne. He is the much loved Honorary Member of the Moran, Helmers and Lee families of Georgetown.
In the Kiwanis Club, James served, at various times, as the Lt. Governor and Secretary. He has Life Member Status and is a member of the Legion of Honor.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Rogers Ramay.
Survivors include: daughter, Lynne R. Davies of Launceston, Tasmania-Australia; son, Michael J. Ramay of North Las Vegas, Nevada; friend and caretaker, Kim Moran of Georgetown, Texas.
