Obituary

James Francis Hawes of Georgetown, Texas was born on 12/12/1937 in Munday, Texas to Homer Clinton Hawes and Wanda Ruth (Taylor) Hawes. After working on the family ranch and graduating from Georgetown High School in 1957 James moved to Dallas, Texas to be a band saw welder and dispatcher for Do All Dallas Company during the day and went to night classes and graduated from Draughns's Business in Electronics. Moving back to Georgetown, James joined the National Guard (In lieu of being drafted) as a Helicopter Transportation Company at Camp Maybry in Austin, Texas on January 10, 1960 as a Communications Coordinator. Deployed to Ft Knox, Kentucky for basic training (better known as boot camp) and school. Activated into the regular Army during the Cuban Crisis, sent to Ft Riley, Kansas on 06/28/1962 Honorable discharged on 01/09/1966 as Staff Sargent. James married Frances Jean Parker on 08/11/1961, the couple had two children together before divorcing on 03/13/1988. James married Wanda Jo Tomerlin (Love of his life) on 05/20/1992 until her death with cancer on 04/07/1998. James ran cattle and goats, Construction Company, employed at Guarantee Electric, leased and operated two service stations, employed at Elgin Grain in Maintenance, employed with Austin Production Credit as the secretary, treasurer, loan officer and inspector in real estate until his death. Been a busy life. Wished he could take the experience with him or pass it on. Sure is a different life today. James left this earth peacefully in his home surround by his loving children on January 15, 2019.

James was preceded in death by his parents Homer Clinton Hawes and Wanda Ruth Hawes, Wife Wanda Jo Hawes and Brother Rex Hawes.

He is survived by his brother Jerry Hawes, Daughter Shannon Miracle and husband Marty of Houston, Tx, Son Cody Hawes and wife DeeDee of Georgetown, Texas, grandchildren Kaitlyn Miracle, Britton Hawes, Tristian Hawes, Dalton Hawes and Payne Miracle and great grandchild Holden Sergent.

Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home on Thursday January 17 th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with memorial service to be held at Ramsey Funeral Home on Friday January 18th at 2:00pm, afterwards he will be cremated and family will spread his ashes on the land he was raised.

The family would like to thank Hospice Austin and their angel nurse Melody for her tender, honest, and carrying assistance the last few weeks.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donation be made to Hospice Austin in James Hawes honor.
