Obituary

Jaime Jeremy Molden, a beloved husband, father, son, and physician, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a ten-month battle with gallbladder cancer. He was 50 years old. Born on November 4, 1973, in San Diego, California, Jaime spent his early childhood in Hawaii before his family settled in Arroyo Grande, CA.

Jaime's love for music began early and shaped much of his life. A gifted musician, he mastered the guitar, piano, trombone, and baritone. In his younger years, he toured nationally with a punk-rock band, channeling his creativity and energy through performance. Even as life led him toward science and medicine, music remained a constant-offering solace, reflection, and joy. It was a lifelong companion, grounding him through every chapter of his journey.

Jaime's curiosity and passion for science eventually drew him to the field of medicine. After earning a degree in Biology from UC Berkeley, he conducted HIV research in a San Francisco lab before discovering his true calling in medicine. He attended medical school at the University of Chicago, followed by cardiology training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and later pursued an advanced fellowship in electrophysiology at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.

As a cardiologist and electrophysiologist, Jaime was known not only for his expertise but also for his deep compassion. His patients valued his kindness as much as his skill, and his colleagues admired his generosity as a mentor and teacher. A lifelong learner, Jaime approached his work with humility and a desire to leave a lasting impact on the lives he touched.

In 2016, Jaime married Lindsay in an intimate ceremony under the towering redwood trees in their backyard in Sonoma County, CA. Together, they built a life of love, adventure, and family, welcoming two sons-Nikko James (5) and Ren Thomas (3)-who were the light of Jaime's life. In addition to his wife and sons, Jaime is survived by his parents, Jim and Holly Molden.

Jaime found peace and joy in the natural world, where he was most at ease. Whether carving through fresh powder in the mountains or riding waves in the ocean, nature was his sanctuary. From his earliest days in Hawaii, the sea called to him, offering renewal, joy, and reflection. On the slopes, he embraced skiing with the same grace and freedom he brought to surfing, always seeking moments of stillness and connection in the wild. His love for the outdoors was a reflection of the way he approached life-with passion, presence, and a sense of adventure.

Jaime's legacy reaches far beyond his medical career. He was a devoted father who cherished every moment with his sons, a loving husband, a humble leader, and a steadfast friend. Known for his warmth, quick humor, and calm presence, Jaime had a rare ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued. His self-deprecating humor lightened even the heaviest moments, endearing him to everyone around him. Even in the face of his illness, Jaime lived with unwavering grace, integrity, and selflessness. His quiet strength and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of Jaime's life will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10 a.m. at The Grove Church in Liberty Hill, TX, just two days before what would have been his 51st birthday.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation to honor Jaime's courageous fight and support others impacted by this illness.
