Obituary

Jack Y Stewart, 89 years of age, resident of Sun City in Georgetown Texas, died peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born on August 16, 1936, in Sabinal, Texas. He was the son of William Clarence Stewart and Eula Keeney. Jack joined the US Air Force following his graduation from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. He was on active duty from 1955 until honorably discharged on March 16th of 1958. Jack married Donna Dehnert Stoeckelmann on April 3, 1998, at the First United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas where they met. Jack was previously married to Carol Strange, the mother of his children, from 1960 to 1995.

Jack’s career included employment with National Cash Register (NCR) and the Department of Defense (DOD) Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). He said the most fun he ever had, however, was a brief stint selling tire patches in East Texas until the internet provided a cheaper purchasing option. He loved his career with AAFES, which afforded him worldwide travel, visiting bases around the globe until his retirement in 2004. Following retirement Jack and Donna moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas. They found like-minded fun people, joining the RV club and traveling across the United States and Canada with their schnauzer Eddie. They enjoyed the neighborhood Mexican Train, and Jokers groups and gardening with the Horticulture Club. Jack was a collector of friends, hats, t shirts, pocketknives and other items. His greatest treasures were his children, wife, stepchildren, friends and a large family. Jack, affectionately known as Pop was very grateful for the many reunions, birthday parties and gatherings this loving family provided.

Remaining to cherish Jack’s memory are his wife Donna, his son Bryan Stewart and wife Mary; daughters Cynthia Alsup and husband Mike, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Trevino and husband Pedro; stepchildren Christen Stoeckelmann, Elke Stoeckelmann, Brett Stoeckelmann and partner Chelsy Covington; grandchildren Amada Hartwick and husband Jeff, Alicia Allen, Matthew Reichert, Audrey Wood, Katie Dickens and husband Chester; step-grandchildren Liam and George Stoeckelmann; great-grandchildren Sydney, Estella and Preston Hartwick and Jack and Case Dickens; sisters Amy Barfell and Clairice Whitton, numerous nieces, nephews and his dog Sassy Sister.

Preceding Jack in death are his sisters Patricia Reese, Mary Jones, Hazel Kruger and Elois Thornblom and his brother Glen Stewart.

Jack will be buried at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542 on Thursday the 19th of March 2026 at 10 a.m.
