Obituary

Jack D. Stroobandt was born on February 4, 1932, in Mishawaka, Indiana. On November 20, 2025, he peacefully said goodbye to his family and friends and joined the loved ones who passed before him.

Jack was blessed to have loving parents, Harry and Simone Stroobandt, who emigrated from Belgium, settled in Mishawaka, and became American citizens. He cherished his sisters, Pat and Mary Jo,  who put up with his harassments during their growing up years.

Jack was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Korean War. His greatest blessing came in 1953 when Janet Velleman agreed to marry him and they blended their families.

He was the proud father of four loving children: Mark and his wife Patricia, Mike and his wife Shannon, Terri, and Tami and her husband Tim. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Julie, Eric, Adam, Allison, Zachary, Jenny, Savannah, and Isabelle and ten great-grandchildren: Addison, Jack, Addilyn, Amelia, Henry, Samantha, Niko, Aurelia, Beau, and Charlie. Each of them completed his family circle and filled his life with immeasurable pride.

Jack was blessed with many friends that shared numerous fun and happy times together. He would leave a lasting impression on all whom he met, and no one could forget Jack!

Jack said, "I never did get all the toys I wanted, but I did get all the love I needed from you. I believe that God will have many chores for me to do. God bless and thank you for supporting me."

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 1, 2026. Details regarding the time and location will be shared once finalized. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. In lieu of flowers, Jack asks that you make a donation to your local animal shelter.
