Obituary

Ida Rader Fisher was born in Georgetown, Texas on March 15, 1935, and passed away in Jesus’ loving arms on May 17, 2026.

Ida is predeceased by her parents, Wilbur Owen Rader and Louise Ischy Rader; brothers, Junior, Ray, and Paul; and sister, Mildred. She is also predeceased by the love of her life, Frank Fisher, of Florence, Texas.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Karen of Georgetown, and son, Ralph (Sheryl) of Liberty Hill; grandchildren, Laci of Liberty Hill and Garrett (Christi) and his family of Liberty Hill. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Merle Moore, of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank and Ida were married on August 21, 1955 in the Main Street Baptist Church in Georgetown. Ida continued her studies at Southwestern University and she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. After working for the Lone Star Gas Co. demonstrating cooking on gas ranges and in ovens, she and Frank settled in Austin where he was finally stationed as a DPS Trooper. Ida learned to type and began typing UT students’ term papers. This allowed her to work from home and be there with her kids. She eventually began working at the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and was the Executive Assistant to three of the presidents of the Foundation. She retired after working there for 35 years.

After Frank’s death in 2000, Ida was called to fill in occasionally as a bailiff in the Travis County District Criminal Courts, a position Frank had taken after his retirement from DPS, and she thoroughly enjoyed that job.

Ida’s faith was very important to her. She and Frank were members of Crestview Baptist Church in Austin for many years and after Ida moved to Georgetown in 2001, she joined First Baptist Georgetown. She was very active in the choirs in both places of worship, and while at First Baptist Georgetown, Ida sang in the Senior Adult Choir, served on the Bereavement Committee, and was instrumental in helping plan and facilitate out-of-town trips for groups from the church.

Ida loved music and sang her first solo in the church, “Jesus Loves Me”, at the age of 3. She played the French horn in the Georgetown High School Marching Band and she also played the piano beautifully.

Ida loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She relished every moment she was traveling and made new friends on every journey. She cherished the times spent with her friends, playing Canasta, going to lunch and shopping, or just sitting and chatting.

Ida will be remembered for her love, kindness, and bright light. The family asks that you honor her by carrying some of her light with you always and to share her kindness with others.
