In Loving Memory

Herbert Franklin (Frank) Nation of Georgetown, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb 14, 2025.

Frank was born on Oct 5, 1943 in Marietta, GA to Herbert Luther Nation and Frances Louise Chandler Nation.

He made a profession of faith in Christ at 9 years old while attending summer bible school.

Since his father served in the army, Frank grew up living and attending school in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, France and California.

He loved sports and grew up playing basketball, football and baseball in school and in the neighborhood with the many cousins from a large extended family. Excelling in his favorite sport of baseball, he enjoyed playing 3rd base and pitching.

Frank graduated from Osborne High School in Marietta, GA in 1961. On a baseball scholarship, he attended Union University in Jackson, TN and graduated in 1966.

In his early career, he taught and coached in Marietta, GA.  He moved from Georgia to Texas in 1979 to work with his brother Jack building homes in the Austin area.

Frank enjoyed living in Texas and quickly became a fan of country western music and dancing. He loved music, including gospel and 50's and 60's country that he grew up listening to with his parents.

Frank and Nanette met in early 1981 in Austin, TX and were married on Nov 21, 1981. They highlighted the best qualities of each other, becoming a team that touched many lives. They shared a joy for listening to music, searching record stores for albums, especially the "old school" country music and  visited the museums of Jimmy Dean in Plainview, TX and Jim Reeves in Carthage, TX. They made many trips traveling the roads between GA, TN and TX visiting family and friends. God blessed them with 43 years of marriage.

Frank coached t-ball and youth baseball when his son Luke began to play ball.

His favorite college teams were the Texas Longhorns (hook 'em) and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He enjoyed watching the football, baseball and basketball games and following the recruiting of new players.

Before Frank finally retired, he found lasting friendships with coworkers and joy in his job shuttling customers at Christian Brothers Automotive. He loved meeting new people and talking with them.

Frank was preceded in death by his daughter Shelly Hansen and brother Jack Nation.

He is survived by his wife Nanette, the love of his life, sons Frankie and Luke, grandsons Daniel (Alexis) Hansen and Andrew (Melanie) Hansen and great-grandchildren Braylon, Piper, Adelyn and Amelia.

Frank dearly loved his Lord and Savior, country, family, friends, church and church family. His humorous and enthusiastic personality was only surpassed by his kindness, caring nature and good heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
