Helen
Hall
Aug 15, 1938 — Jul 12, 2026
Helen Harbaugh Rankin Hall was born August 15, 1938, in Pennsylvania and died July 11, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 87. A graduate of Maryville College in east Tennessee, she also lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, New York, New Mexico, and Colorado. She enjoyed gardening, history, geography, the outdoors, travel and the years she spent at Ghost Ranch. She inspired curiosity and a love of learning in her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her. An avid reader, she was a faithful patron of Georgetown Public Library. A gifted cook, she spent many years growing her own vegetables. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, weave (yarn and wheat) and quilt, and may be remembered best for her colorful, intricate, personalized and completely unique cross stitch art that was gifted often and will be cherished far into the future. Passionate about human rights and social justice, she worked and volunteered with others involved in these shared interests including the League of Women Voters and the National Women’s Hall of Fame. The eldest child of Presbyterian minister Lynn Boyd Rankin and his artist wife Marianne Hirst Rankin, Helen is survived by her two younger brothers, Frankin Rankin (Jeanine) and Douglas Rankin (Wendy); her three children, Debora Hall (Robert Taylor) of New Mexico, Mark Hall (Susan Brodie) of Colorado, Tim Hall (Shannon) of Round Rock, Texas; and three grandsons, Jacob (Ashlee), Benjamin, and Logan Hall. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Georgetown Public Library.
