Helen Ann
Blanton
October 9, 1947 – February 5, 2026
Helen Ann Blanton, 78, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. Helen's family has planned a celebration of her life and warmly invites family and friends to attend. Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Visitation will take place from 1:00–2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Helen's spirit is at peace in Heaven, and her body will be laid to rest at Matsler Cemetery, located off County Road 245 in Florence, Texas.
Helen was born on October 9, 1947, in Coleman, Texas, to Otto and Catherine Rackow. She spent her childhood in Coleman, where she met Jimmie Fred Blanton as a teenager. A few years later, they married. At the age of 22, Helen and Jimmie accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and together they were baptized at a Church of Christ in Brownwood, Texas. The couple was blessed with three wonderful children—a daughter and two sons.
The family lived in Abilene, San Angelo, and Brownwood before eventually settling in Georgetown. Helen earned a paralegal certification from a community college but ultimately chose a different career path. She once owned and operated a part-time sewing business from her home, offering seamstress and embroidery services. Helen worked full-time for Hospira in Austin, Texas, where she dedicated 37 years before retiring. She supported her husband in building his Amsoil business and, after Jimmie's passing, Helen successfully maintained the business on her own for many years.
Helen was gifted in many arts and crafts, including sewing, quilting, embroidery, knitting, needlepoint, oil and watercolor painting, and crocheting. Sewing was her greatest passion, and she enjoyed attending classes, staying current with new techniques and trends through magazines and online articles. She also found fulfillment in baking, working puzzles, canning, watching movies and classic westerns, collecting various items, and traveling to and from the family property, spending weekends there tending to the cattle, driving her John Deere tractor, and simply relaxing in the countryside.
Helen was a fiercely independent woman who preferred to do things her own way without explanation. Quiet and unassuming, she was a woman of few words, but when she spoke, her comments were often unexpectedly funny and sometimes curt. Helen tended to socialize with only a small circle of close friends and family. Throughout her life, Helen endured profound loss, including the death of her son at age 18 in a car accident, the passing of her daughter at age 50 due to health complications, the loss of her husband to pancreatic cancer, and the passing of two siblings. Despite these hardships, Helen pressed on and strived to live the remainder of her life in pursuit of happiness in her own steadfast way.
Helen dearly loved and admired her grandchildren—four grandsons and two granddaughters—whom she described as her pride and joy. She lived vicariously through them, offering encouragement and support as they pursued their dreams. In her final years, as she became less independent, her only surviving child cared for her with deep love, devotion, and unwavering dedication, ensuring she was protected, well cared for and loved.
Helen is survived by her sister, Doris Thomas, and her husband, Jerry Thomas, of Waco, Texas; her son, Chris Blanton, and his wife, Rebekah Blanton, of Georgetown, Texas; and her grandchildren: Colton Mendenhall; Shilyn Hortenstine and her husband, Matthew Hortenstine; Kailyn Blanton; Justin Blanton; Nathanail Worthey and his wife, Lucilia Ramos (Worthey); and Matthew Worthey and his fiancée, Crystal Ramey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Blanton; her daughter, Tonia Worthey; her son, Scott Blanton; her parents, Otto and Catherine Rackow; her sister, Shirley LeBlanc; and her brother, Leonard Rackow.
The memories shared with Helen by her family and friends will be cherished forever. She will be remembered as a loyal and devoted wife, caring mother, loving grandmother, kind friend, hardworking, tenacious, and generous woman.
