Obituary

Harry Stanfield, 74, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2017 while in the hospital. Born Harry Terrell Stanfield, he was nicknamed 'Terry' throughout his younger life growing up in Brunswick, GA, and while in the military he became known as 'Stan' from the last name STANFIELD on his flight suit. Stan graduated high school with high honors from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, GA and then from Duke University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He later earned a master's degree while in the Air Force. He was married to Judith Leslie Hollar for over 25 years. As a C-130 navigator in the Air Force, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery in Vietnam. After retiring as a Lt. Colonel with 22 years of military service, he launched a successful second career in Northern California as a real estate agent. He later moved to Georgetown, Texas after retiring from the workforce. A gifted woodworker, he built and repaired furniture and antiques. His favorite pastimes were collecting and restoring antique clocks and restoring vintage sport Mercedes convertibles. He became an expert in American and European clocks, dealing and shipping clocks worldwide. His adventurous outdoor spirit led him to a love for boating, fishing, snow and water skiing. He also loved challenging card games and was an excellent Duplicate Bridge player, earning masterpoints in competitive Bridge tournaments.

Stan is survived by brother Richard Stanfield of Brunswick, GA; son and daughter-in-law Scott Stanfield and Cyndi (Sunderman) Stanfield of Berkeley, CA; daughter and son-in-law Leslie (Stanfield) Bingham and Jacob Bingham of Georgetown, TX; grandchildren Benjamin Stanfield, Sarah Bingham, and Leah Bingham; nephews Steven Dixon and Kenneth Dixon; and half-sister Lori Woodard.

He will be lovingly remembered by Sue Nutt and family of Georgetown, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Harry Stanfield and sister Sandra Stanfield Dixon.

Stan's wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes scattered over the Bay in Northern California where he loved to fish. Stan will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
