Harold M. Walden, Jr. (1928 – 2018) passed away January 22, 2018 in Georgetown, Texas after a brief illness.
Harold was born in Portland, Connecticut on November 5, 1928 to Harold Monroe Walden, Sr. and Elizabeth Esther (Lincoln) Walden. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Walden, Sr. and sister Shirley E. Bailey.
He grew up in New England working on the family farm. After enlisting in the Air Force, he discovered his natural aptitude for technology and engineering. This led to a career at IBM spanning almost 40 years.
He married Yolanda Celeste (Benincasa) Walden on August 24, 1958 in Kingston, New York, sharing their lives until her death June 4, 2013. Together they had 4 children: Kathleen Goodwin (Dave); Elizabeth Barnett (Mark), Laurie Walden, and Phillip Walden (Kathy). His pride and joy were his 8 grandchildren Megan, David and Jeffrey Goodwin; Julia Barnett Barrett (Tyler), Will and Ben Barnett; Hannah and Parker Walden; and great grandson, Riggs Barrett.
He was a true lifelong learner, always reading or looking forward to a new place to visit. He immersed himself in genealogy, tracing not only his own family history but available to help anyone who asked. He was the Registrar for the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and an officer in the Mayflower Society. He loved being involved helping the Wounded Warriors learn their genealogy. He was a Freemason. He loved to golf, living conveniently at the 4th tee box and he especially adored his beagles. Most of all, he loved when his family was gathered together whether at the annual Padre Island beach trips or dinners at the house. Scotch, good food, and stories would flow.
We would like to extend a special thank you for the tender care he received from Dr. Dekeratry, Dr. Fields, Dr. Saadeh and the Georgetown Hospital.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ramsey Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 28th at 2:00 pm at the IOOF Cemetery In Georgetown, Texas.
