Guillermo S. Martinez Jr. 69, passed away on January 19, 2022, in Georgetown, TX. with his wife by his side.
Guillermo Martinez was born on April 12, 1952 in Eagle Pass, TX, to Guillermo Martinez and Isabel F. Martinez.
Guillermo graduated from St Johns High School in 1972 in St John, Michigan where he earned his diploma. Guillermo went on to enlist in the United States Air Force from 1972-1976 where he was honorably discharged after his service. Guillermo's desire to serve his country would continue when he enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard from 1982-1989. Guillermo would attend Southwest Texas Jr College in Uvalde, Texas from 1976-1984. Guillermo's servant heart would lead him to the beginning of his Law Enforcement career. Guillermo first became a Patrol Officer for the City of Eagle Pass where he would work patrol until moving to Round Rock Police Department where he would spend a few years before moving over to the Georgetown Police Department. While at the Georgetown Police department, he would be promoted to detective working juvenile cases. Guillermo was passionate about bringing peace or justice to those young victims during his last few years there. Working with juveniles would lead him to work at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office where he would finish his career teaching the DARE program for participating schools in the county.
Guillermo married Julia Martinez in May 1997 in Georgetown, Texas, where 2 years later they would welcome their daughter, Isabel Martinez. In 2001, they would welcome their youngest daughter, Emma Martinez to the family. Both girls would be welcomed by Guillermo's older children from a previous marriage, Guillermo Martinez III and Dahlia Martinez. The Martinez family would then become a complete family of 6.
Guillermo was best known for his interest in World History, coca-cola memorabilia, a StarTrek fan and loved joking around. Guillermo could be found doing research from sci-fi movies or finding a solution to problems. Guillermo loved his family camping trips to Garner State Park and repeated trips to Corpus Christi. Guillermo loved life and will be remembered for his love to all he came to know. A stranger was just a friend he hadn't met.
Guillermo would live a full life with various jobs that he loved that ranged from his last position working for Liberty Civil construction company, to being an Independent Insurance Adjuster where he worked in Florida during the hurricane in 2004 and 2005. Guillermo had an opportunity to work as a Training Coordinator for the International Police Task Force assigned to the Balkins area that would have him traveling from Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, and Albania. Guillermo held other jobs such as: a Contract Driver, Security, Bus driver, Manager for Global wire security systems, customer service, and a mechanic in the military as a Sergeant. Guillermo could not sit still and his many chapters in life showed it. Each position he held, he did it with honor and grace.
