Gordon Eugene
Sunderland
August 3, 1945 – January 8, 2026
Gordon Sunderland, age 80 passed away on January 8, 2026 at his home in Georgetown, Texas with his family by his side. He was the son of Gene and Virginia (Phelps) Sunderland, St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was a 1963 graduate of Central High School. Gordon went on to complete degrees majoring in School Administration. His 32 -year School Administration career was all served in the state of Missouri. Upon retirement from School Administration, he formed an LLC providing support to various school districts in Missouri and Kansas regarding school financial services. The LLC also provided construction management and eventually served as general contractors on such projects as school renovations, school additions, baseball and soccer fields.
Gordon is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Janice (Bachman) Sunderland. They were married on April 16, 1965 and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and family. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and 80th birthdays with all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gordon is also survived by and was the proud father of Kimberly (Chris) Johnson, Georgetown, TX and Tyler Sunderland, Kansas City, MO. He was the adoring grandfather to three granddaughters: Shelby (Tony) Weber, Olathe, KS; Taylor (Dom) Cole, Eagle, CO,; and Brytten (Logan) Miller, Garrison, MT, and three grandsons: Corbin (Rebecca) Johnston, Kyle, TX; Brody Sunderland, Kansas City, MO and Derek Johnson, Hutto, Texas and loving brother to Ann Harris, Linn Creek, MO. He loved spending time with all his family, especially his two great grandchildren, Peyton and Landon Weber and was looking forward to meeting baby Johnston. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Burt (Agnes) Sunderland, Maysville, MO.
At Gordon's request there will be no service. Family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
