Boenig, Jr.

Gilbert E. Boenig, Jr. passed away peacefully at home with his family on November 19, 2025. He was born April 7, 1945, to Mary and Gilbert Boenig of Woodsboro, TX. After graduating from Woodsboro High School, he earned a BS in Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin in 1968 and started his career at Mading-Dugan (later obtained by Eckerd Pharmacy) in Houston, TX. He ascended into management and was promoted to Vice President and Manager of the Louisiana Region in 1983. In 1986, he became general manager and President of Medico, Inc., of McAllen and gained full ownership of the pharmacy chain a few years later. He retired due to heart problems in July 2013 and relocated with his wife Connie to Georgetown,TX. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Gilbert is predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Mary Boenig and his brothers-in-law Jerry Harp and Huey McCoulskey. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Connie Pollard Boenig; daughters Cheryl Boenig (Mark Lindo) and Teresa Boenig (Ray Cabreira); sisters Barbara Harp and Pat McCoulskey, brother Larry Boenig (Linda Boenig); grandson Tyler Lindo; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Gilbert was a wonderful husband, father, family man, friend, and Christian. He was a eucharistic minister, lector, and counselor to engaged couples through Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He supported his daughters in their pursuit of masters degrees in health care, and encouraged his employees to make education a priority. Gilbert strived to make the world a better place, and often succeeded. He was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed.
