Obituary

George Clinton (Jackie) Hefner died peacefully at his home in Leander, Texas on July 2, 2024. Jackie was born on July 29, 1943, in Harlingen, Texas to Clinton and Marie Hefner. His childhood years were spent in various cities and countries as his father was a career Air Force serviceman. Jackie graduated from Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He then entered the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War.

He married Loretta Schwausch on December 4, 1965, and enjoyed 58 1⁄2 years of marriage. Shortly after marrying, Jackie and Loretta moved to Pasadena, Texas where they were blessed with four beautiful children. In Pasadena, Jackie worked at Champion Paper and Arco. Jackie and Loretta moved to Leander, Texas in 1979 where he finished his working career as a groundskeeper with Leander Independent School District.

Jackie always enjoyed keeping his home property trimmed and neat. He loved puttering about in his garage. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had many opportunities in his retirement to enjoy them. In the family he was known for being a jokester - when someone came into the room, he would tell everybody to fake asleep. He was also known for his voracious sweet tooth. In his last years Jackie enjoyed collecting pennies and pull tabs, working crossword puzzles and folding the church bulletin.

Jackie became a Christian at an early age and was a member of Round Mountain Baptist Church. He always requested to sing his favorite hymn, "At Calvary", during Fifth Sunday singing.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughter Amy; son Tim and wife Peggy; son Jason and wife Jenn; daughter Lori and husband Chris; grandchildren Jacob, Paul, Caleb, Bekah and husband Tristan, and Zack; sister Judy, brothers Chuck, Don and Ron and wife Nadine; his Aunt Ruthie Cox and numerous loving in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Jackie was well loved and will be greatly missed.

We are at peace knowing that he is now with Jesus.
