Obituary

George Thompson Conklin was born November 14, 1970 in Suffern, NY and passed away on November 14, 2024 in Round Rock, TX on his 54th birthday. He was the first-born son to parents George and Susan Conklin later to be joined by sister Kristi, and brother Richard. Throughout his childhood, George enjoyed fishing with his family at his grandfather's cabin in upstate NY and playing all manner of sports, eventually concentrating on football and lacrosse in high school.  He was a lifelong NY Jets, Mets, Knicks, and Rangers fan and adopted the Texas Longhorns after his move to Texas. George graduated Suffern High School with the class of 1988, and continued his education at SUNY Oneonta where he received his Bachelor's degree in elementary education.

In 2003, George moved to Austin, Texas to pursue his long and successful career in technology sales.   In his spare time, he continued his passion for fishing, golfing, and NY sports teams, becoming an active member of a NY Jets meet-up group.  George was always pressed and dressed sharply, could carry a conversation with anyone, and had a winning smile that will be missed by all who loved him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents George and Annastatia Conklin, and Thompson and Elizabeth Keesler, uncles Jimmy Keesler, Eddie Conklin, and Thomas Manuli, and cousin Richard Manuli.  He is survived by his wife Katie and two dogs Alexis and Kya. He is also survived by his parents George and Susan, sister Kristi, brother Richard and sister-in-law Mimi, former spouse Carolina Sampaio, nieces Oliva and Charlotte, and nephews Cameron and Rhys, as well as many beloved cousins and friends.

The Conklin family would like to express thanks to the ICU staff at Baylor Scott & White in Round Rock. The nurses, techs, and doctors showed compassion and provided excellent medical care. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family would like for donations to be made in George's name to the ARC of Rockland County supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
