Obituary

Fred Louis Rorex, 64, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at home on or around July 13, 2025.

A loyal friend, a devoted coworker and cherished chosen family member, Fred will be remembered for his quiet strength, humor, resilience and generous heart. Born on April 17, 1960, Fred spent part of his career at Dell and the remainder of his professional life working at both the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, before eventually retiring from the State of Texas.

For more than two decades, Fred was like family to the Pierces where he was lovingly known by the kids and pups alike as "Uncle Fred." He was a steadfast part of their lives - - - offering friendship, support and a dependable presence that never wavered.  Fred pup-sat the dogs, helped out and supported the family wherever he could and was genuinely someone to always be counted on.  He loved the Pierce pups, and they loved him back, especially Nugget.  He gave his loyalty freely and his love quietly, without ever expecting recognition, and he was a beloved honorary member of the family.

Fred faced numerous health challenges with courage and humility.  He survived a quadruple bypass, a stroke, seizures and a prolonged battle with diabetes that led to other serious medical complications over the years.  He had recently been doing better, getting out more, receiving regular care and finding a renewed sense of connection.  His strength and resilience were quietly heroic.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Robbie Jo Bland, and is survived by his chosen family - - - Ann, Deke, Amber, Dalton and Chanse Pierce and the Pierce pups; his dear friends - - - Santos Pina III, Allen Anderson, Bobby Montague, Richard Dougherty, Martin Brooks and Dawna Eckwall; and his beloved niece, Misty Kay Smith, who all treasured his presence and will carry his memory close.

In lieu of a funeral, a Celebration of Life Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematory at 5600 Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas, on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..
