Obituary

Elizabeth Adell Wright, age 85, passed away on June 4th 2024. She was born on November 11th, 1939 to Arthur Stanley Meadows and Elizabeth Martha Meadows in Hampton, Virginia. She was the second oldest out of 5 children (Albert, Billy, Ann and Nelly). Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Robert D. Wright) and brother (Albert Meadows). Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters (Sherri Davis and Michele Shanks), her brother (Billy Meadows), her two sisters (Ann Ordanez and Nelly Smeltzer) as well as her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Elizabeth grew up in Hampton, VA and graduated from Hampton High School in 1959. She then married the love of her life, Robert D. Wright on December 9th, 1961. They welcomed their first daughter Sherri in 1963 and their second daughter Michele in 1967 in Virginia. A year later they moved to Maryland where they spent 10 years until they moved to Austin, TX in 1979.

Elizabeth was always goofing around and loved to make others laugh, even in her final days she was still making her family laugh. One of favorite things to do was shopping with her daughter, Sherri, and her granddaughters, Amanda and Lauren. If you were close to Elizabeth you know she adored George Strait, she always joked he was her boyfriend. Golfing was her favorite hobby and played in many tournaments in California with her friend Mary.

Elizabeth lived for her family, they were everything to her. She will be laid to rest on Saturday June 8th, 2024, next to her late husband Robert at IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown, TX. She will be greatly missed by many.
