Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Hopson Lusk passed away on January 9, 2023 in Georgetown, Texas.  She was born Elizabeth Helen Hopson on October 14, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to Albert Frazell and Alice Irene Hopson, who both have preceded her in death.

Liz Lusk is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Gary Lusk, of Salado, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Lori Rickert and John Ontiveros of Angleton, Texas, daughters Shari Rickert of Georgetown, Texas, Jennifer Lusk of Dallas, Texas and Katy Lusk of Atlanta, Georgia; two granddaughters, Alexandria Ontiveros of Uvalde, Texas and Gina Ontiveros of Angleton, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Smith of Angleton, Texas.

Liz Lusk was raised in Mission, Texas and Sulphur, Louisiana.  She was an accomplished athlete and participated in many sports, but she excelled in twirling.  In 1958, she won the coveted "Miss Majorette of America" award and as a result received a full athletic scholarship to LSU as their feature twirler.  She later taught twirling lessons as she was raising her family.  In 1968, Liz entered the business world in San Antonio, Texas where she began her successful career as a Realtor.  Her work in the field spanned over 30 years.  After leaving San Antonio, she continued her real estate career in Montgomery, Alabama where she was one of the city's leading Realtors and won multiple "Salesman of the Year" awards.  She also sold homes in Hot Springs, Arkansas and finally in Houston, Texas until her retirement in 2001. Her success in this field was due in part to her bubbly personality and ability to listen to people.

Through many years of both formal and self-study, Liz became an avid and accomplished artist.  She was talented in all mediums, including sculpting, but her later work was as an abstract artist.  Her works touched many people through their colors and movement.

Liz loved to travel and she and Gary made many memorable trips over the years.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Salado Church of Christ, 217 N. Stagecoach Road, Salado, Texas 76571.
