Edward John
Kuntz
Jan 14, 1938 — Jun 19, 2026
Edward John Kuntz, 88, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on June 19, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 14, 1938 in Tunbridge, North Dakota, to Margaret and Bruno Kuntz, Ed (Eddie to his family) grew up a quiet and shy sibling of 6 in a small rural farming community. He joined the Navy at 18 and served aboard the USS Yorktown from 1957-1961. He later went on to work for Otis Engineering which started a lifelong carrier of more than forty years in the oil industry. 26 of those years were spent with Otis and after retiring from Haliburton he went on to work as a consultant for numerous oil and gas companies. His time in the Navy and the oil industry took him around the world and he often reminisced about the places he had seen and people he had formed relationships with over the years.
Ed lived a purposeful life dedicated to the Catholic church, his country and his family. He had an easy way about him that people truly loved, a way of making you feel welcome. He never met a stranger and often had a story to tell about a good conversation he had with someone he met on one of his many trips. You could almost always catch him with a cup of coffee in his hand and an urge to talk about the latest politics. An answer to a question often came with a joke and a twinkle in his eye gave him away when he was trying to pull one over on you. He was a loving husband and father who had a tender way about him towards his children, and he was a cherished brother to his family. There is a depth of sadness felt by his loss that will linger. He will forever be in our hearts.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Mary Aili, brothers and sisters Angela, Mary, Pat and Mark, children Craig, Julie, Ceilih and Kerri, grandchildren Miranda, Parker, Paige, Jag, Amity and Meegan, and several great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Veterans service of your choice.
