Obituary

Dorothy Williams was born in Tampa, Florida. As a young girl, she moved with her mother and sister to Eastland, Texas, and later to Kermit, Texas. It was in Kermit where she blossomed — attending Kermit High School and earning accolades such as Head Cheerleader as a freshman and Miss Kermit High her sophomore year. She was also a proud member of the school band.

After graduating from high school, Dorothy attended Texas Tech for one year before transferring to Sam Houston State University for her sophomore year. That summer, on July 22, 1956, she married the love of her life, Chuck Williams.

Shortly after their wedding, Chuck joined the National Guard for six months, and together they began their lives as entrepreneurs, owning and operating Root Beer stands in Sherman, Beeville, and Edinburg, Texas. Their first child, Stacia, was born in Edinburg, prompting a return to Kermit and a new chapter.

Back in Kermit, Dorothy and Chuck joined Chuck's father in the real estate business, a partnership that lasted 17 years. During this time, they welcomed their second child, Flyn, and Dorothy embraced her role as a full-time mother, the heart and soul of their home. She was a devoted mother who managed every detail of family life with grace and love.

Dorothy had strong faith. She never met a stranger and would witness to anyone who would listen. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was preeminent. She and Chuck were active in their church, participated in Bible studies, and taught Sunday school together. She was adventurous and fearless — she learned to water ski by launching from the shore on one foot, despite not knowing how to swim. She loved snow skiing trips and hunting adventures, always embracing life to the fullest.

In 1980, Dorothy and Chuck moved to Georgetown, Texas, to pursue new real estate ventures. They bought land in Marble Falls and Georgetown, opened a real estate office, and began investing in and remodeling homes, duplexes, apartments, and purchasing land as a family. Their teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit turned each project into a shared success.

Dorothy lived with Type 1 diabetes for almost 60 years and managed it with remarkable discipline and strength. Even in her later years, she had sharp vision, a head full of dark hair, and a radiant beauty — both inside and out.

Dorothy was just shy of 90 years old when she peacefully left this world for Heaven — a place she always believed was beautiful, and she would often say to Chuck, "I should have gotten there sooner."

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of over 68 years, Chuck Williams; her children Stacia Lundblad and husband Jonas and Flyn Williams and wife Sherry; four grandchildren Whitney Berber and husband Ryan, Logan Waters and wife Katie, Hunter Williams and Reagan Williams; and five great-grandchildren Delanie, Emery, James, Kaison and Theo, and many dear friends and extended family. Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Lewey, and sister, Ann Tow.

While we mourn the loss of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, we celebrate the legacy of Dorothy Bea Williams and the enduring love she had for those who were fortunate to know her. Her warmth, courage, and grace will be remembered always. May we find comfort in knowing that one day we'll see her again.
