Donna Jean Bartholomew's Obituary
Donna Jean Bartholomew of Georgetown, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the age of 83 with her family members by her side. She was born on December 24, 1933 in Long Beach, California, the daughter of Bertha I. Jaques and Kenneth E. Jaques.
Donna graduated with honors from Long Beach Poly High School and married the love of her life, Gordon L. Bartholomew in 1951. Throughout her life, Donna was always a caregiver. From raising six children to her volunteering for various Police and Fire Departments, Donna's core belief in life was helping others.
In 1978, Donna and Gordon moved to Nassau Bay, Texas. Donna was a secretary for the Nassau Bay Police Department and became an EMT for her local Volunteer Fire Department. In 1992, after they both had retired, they moved to Sunrise Beach, Texas and again Donna joined the Volunteer Fire Department. Following a short residency in Ruidoso, New Mexico, Donna and Gordon ultimately moved to the community of Sun City in Georgetown, Texas.
Donna was not for sitting still too long. Throughout retirement, Donna and Gordon became extensive travelers. Their motor home travels took them around the United States visiting family and friends, while their foreign travels took them all over the world. While at home, she enjoyed quilting and made rag quilts for each of her 11 grandchildren. Donna also enjoyed the love of her many West Highland Terriers throughout her life.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Gordon L. Bartholomew of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by her children: Doug and Linda Bartholomew of Novato, California, Steve and Michelle Bartholomew of Austin, Texas, Jim Bartholomew and Tin Nguyen of El Sobrante, California, John and Kathy Bartholomew of Apex, North Carolina, Mark and Meri Bea Bartholomew of League City, Texas and Lisa and Jeff Hanson of Plano, Texas; her 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and her two companion Westies, Abby and Duffy.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633 on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.
