Donald James
Weaver
December 23, 1938 – November 28, 2025
Donald James Weaver passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the age of 86. He was born in Lane City, Texas on December 23, 1938 to his parents William Alburn Weaver and Pearl Elizabeth Brewer. He was one of eight children.
Donald graduated from Boling High School in Boling, Texas. It was here where he discovered his passion for sports. He was all-district in football and basketball and he enjoyed playing baseball. He was very competitive. He attended one year of college as his college education was interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S.Army. He served active duty in Germany for 2 years and then 4 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Donald had an industrious career in wholesale for over 40 years. He worked for Hubbell Wiring as senior territory manager for the central Texas area, the Rio Grande valley area, and the Houston area. After retirement, Donald enjoyed living in Sun City as he made many friends and enjoyed many fun activities like playing golf, fishing, and traveling both domestically and abroad. He also donated his time to mentoring in the elementary schools. He mentored the same child from Kindergarten through that child's senior year. As a member of the Kwanis Club, he went to various schools in Georgetown ISD and Jarrell ISD to read to the children. He had such a generous heart. If he saw that a child was in need of clothes or shoes, he would anonymously provide.
Donald is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dora Vann Weaver. He is also survived by his four sisters Joyce Labay, Francis Kight (Alvin), Sherrie Weaver Crosson, Alicia Weaver, and his brother Wayne Leslie (Candace); his two sons Wesley Wayne and Jared Shane (Brooke), and his two grandsons Thomas Jude, age 5 and Samuel Joseph, age 2 and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Pearl, and by his brother Ivan and his sister Darlene as well as by his brothers-in-law Billy Labay and David Lewis.
