Obituary

Dianne Marie Reder (nee Cotrufo) 84 of Georgetown, Texas departed this world on Memorial Day, Monday May 27th, 2024 surrounded by her beloved husband Jim and family. Dianne had been ill for a few months while we searched for answers but in the end passed quickly, taking our breath away.

Dianne was born in Akron, Ohio in 1939. She was the eldest daughter of Nicholas and Jeanne (nee Westerburg) Cotrufo. She attended Akron North High School, graduating in 1958, where she had met Jim Reder, the love of her life and husband of 62 years. They enjoyed a length of devoted marriage which was a source of pride and comfort to both Dianne and Jim. They moved to Southeastern Pennsylvania, living first in North and then East Coventry township for 13 years, then moving to Keller and finally Georgetown, TX. Dianne was a family treasure to her children and grandchildren. Everyone could call Gammi just to talk.

Dianne had a life-long love of singing, loved movies, and crossword puzzles; she was a fierce monopoly player. It was a family tradition to come home for her wonderful beef stroganoff. Her love of singing was only eclipsed by her love of family. She sang in the kitchen and for a few decades sang women's barbershop harmony competitively with Sweet Adelines International where she formed life-long friendships and traveled the US extensively, with highlights being her trips to Honolulu and internationally in London. Faithful to her Italian roots, her Christmas celebrations were legendary affairs within our family. On her mother's side of the family, Naomi Westerburg was her beloved grandmother (GiGi to us), whose mother Sarah Foulkrod's roots are well documented in early Pennsylvania genealogy going back to Liberty Township, PA.

Dianne will be sorely missed by her beloved husband James (Jim) Reder; her children: Christopher (Chris) Reder; her daughter, Kimberly (Reder) Carpenter of Montgomery County, PA; Son Brian (wife Michele) of Unionville, Ohio, daughter Jennifer (Reder) Freeman (husband John) of Cedar Park, Texas. In addition, her niece Lori (Cotrufo) Walker (husband Nathan) of Plano, Texas who lived with our family for a time while growing up.

Grandchildren Jeffrey Carpenter, Jr (wife Jenna) of Willow Grove, PA. Ian Bromley of Westminster, CO, Hana Bromley of Cedar Park, TX, Taylor Graham (wife of Jack) of Cedar Park, TX and Sean Freeman of Houston, TX.

Great grandchildren Peyton, Teagan and Tatum Carpenter (her mirror-image as a child) of Willow Grove, PA. And many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be announced at a future date. For anyone wishing to make a donation in Dianne's memory, her family would be most grateful if they're sent to either MD Anderson Hospital in Houston or the American Cancer Society.
