Obituary

David S. (Dave) Thomas, passed away peacefully at his home in Liberty Hill Texas.

Born to Gayle E. and Dorothy B. Thomas, Dave grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from Highland High School, he attended Trade Tech, becoming certified in diesel mechanics. He worked many years for Utah Transit Authority, and he was instrumental in the completion of the Salt Lake City TRAX light rail line. Dave was a train hobbyist at a very young age and ended up in Central Texas working as System Signal Supervisor for OmniTRAX, retiring in 2021. He was the "Go-To-Guy", highly respected in the Railroad Industry.

Family was so important to Dave. He was always very supportive and generous, and was a doting grandfather to Saya. He enjoyed cooking dutch-oven meals for family gatherings, and for his many friends and co-workers as well. He would go out of his way to take care of friends and family.

One of the perks he enjoyed by living in Texas was being able to ride his Harley year 'round. Dave was an avid Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders fan. He connected easily with his Central Texas Raiders friends. He also maintained many friendships from his young days. He will surely be missed.

Dave is survived by his son, Tyler (Isono) Thomas; granddaughter, Saya; sister, Diane Brubaker; and brother, Dean (Jan) Thomas,; as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and a special friend, Ruth.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother and dad.

There will be no services for Dave at this time. Please consider a toast to Dave until we can make proper arrangements to celebrate his life.
