David Remington
Brown
March 13, 1933 – September 15, 2024
David R. Brown, 91, formerly of Wolfeboro, NH, passed away peacefully in the tender-hearted care of the staff at Georgetown Living, TX on September 15, 2024.
Dave was born in Greenville, RI in 1933, one of six apple farming kids. He graduated from North Providence High School and joined the Air Force. After basic training in radio operations, he was sent to northern Germany, where he was smitten with Irmgard Behrmann. They married in 1957, and they remained in Germany until he finished serving his fifth year of duty. Returning to Greenville, Dave and Irmgard built a house in the family orchards where they raised their two children. Dave became a typesetter, commuting to Boston to work at the Globe, then at the Pawtucket Times, until seizing the opportunity to buy a tiny commercial printing shop in a neighboring town. He successfully built his business through years of hard work and long hours, combined with an unfailingly honest, outgoing personality. Even after moving to Wolfeboro in 1988, he continued weekly commuting for many more years before finally retiring and enjoying life with Irmgard until 2021.
Family was everything; working together at the shop or playing at home, Dave loved nothing more than to be with his wife and kids. Summers were the best - every day, as soon as work was over, it was off to a little lake to water ski until dark. He was a devoted dad who always remembered how to laugh and play with his kids, and then became just as loving and wonderful a Gramps to his two grandkids, and was still smiling as a sweet Great-Gramps with his three great-grandkids.
Dave leaves behind his daughter Bernice (Brown) Rahl of Georgetown, TX, his grandson David, wife Jessica, great-grandson Steven, and great-granddaughter Abigail Rahl of Colorado Springs, CO, his granddaughter Sarah, wife Cierra, and great-grandson Remington Rahl of Austin, TX, and many dear family members in both America and Germany. Dave is predeceased by Irmgard, his wife of 64 years, his son David, son-in-law Steven, brothers Howard, Stephen, Walter, and Benjamin, and sister Virginia.
An informal gravesite gathering will take place at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston, RI in the near future.
