David Purcell passed away on November 1, 2026. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa on June 30, 1955 to William and Gladys Purcell where he grew up with his siblings Cheri, Kenny and Barbi. He attended Saint Anthony’s Catholic School and Hempstead High School. He played on the football team at Iowa Central College where he met many lifelong friends. After college he returned to Dubuque where he worked on the barges on the Mighty Mississippi River. He then enjoyed a solo backpacking adventure across Europe. Dave met and married his wife Patricia in Dubuque and shortly after they relocated to San Antonio, TX where he began a 30+ year career with Pepsi Co. Dave and Patty had two children, Kimberly and Eric. The family settled in Georgetown where they established a home base for their many vacations. Dave and Patty took Kimberly and Eric all over the country, one road trip after another, always finding time to make a trip back home to Iowa every summer to visit his family and friends.

He could enter a room full of strangers and talk for hours, finding a connection with each of them. We now find comfort in the belief that he has reunited with family and friends who have passed away before him.

It won’t be the same without him around. We will miss his humor, his belly laughs, and the way he greeted us at all hours of the day with "Good Morning".

Our family plans to celebrate Dave's life in Dubuque, Iowa with fellowship, family, and friends.
