Obituary

David Lopez, aged 72, of Georgetown, TX, peacefully transitioned from his earthly existence to eternal life on the morning of Saturday, April 27, 2024. David was born on December 4, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, to the late Juan Gonzales Lopez and Euralia (Lillie) Rodriguez Lopez. He spent his formative years in Victoria, TX, where he attended school and graduated from the University of Houston-Victoria with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

During his youth, David found joy in camping with the Boy Scouts, achieving the esteemed Eagle Scout rank in 1968, and later serving as a devoted Scoutmaster. Following a distinguished career spanning 38 years, he retired as a park ranger/peace officer with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. A man with diverse skills, David continued his commitment to service as a handyman for The Stacy Group Realty post-retirement.

David's passions extended beyond his professional pursuits; he relished traveling with his beloved family, immersing himself in the splendor of nature. Additionally, he found solace and fulfillment in woodworking and dedicated volunteering efforts.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Delia Uresti Lopez; along with his children, Nicolas and Alyssa, both from Austin, TX. David is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, John and James Lopez. He leaves behind his brother, Daniel Lopez; his sisters: Mary Mercadante and Theresa Borgohain; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

In honor of David's memory, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to organizations close to his heart: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, The Annunciation Maternity Home, Dominican Sisters of Mary (Georgetown Religious House), or The Caring Place of Georgetown.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow and begin at 10:30 a.m. Father Jamnicky will be officiating. 8626 FM1105, Jarrell, TX 76537.
