Obituary

Ronald "David" Cox Jr, of Lago Vista, TX passed away on September 14, 2023 at the age of 50. David was born January 16, 1973 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Ronald and Barbara Cox.

He graduated from Spring High School (Spring, TX) in 1991 where he was a talented Texas high school football quarterback. David went on to study and play college football at Blinn College in Brenham, TX.

David moved with his family to Georgetown, TX in 1996, where his three children Kayla, Grant, and Alexis were raised. He was married to his sweetheart Heather Caraway Cox in 2014. With his marriage to Heather, David gained another son, Bridger Hanks.

David was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 2016. David, Heather, and Bridger found a wonderful church family when they moved to Lago Vista in 2019, and he found immense joy serving in his congregation as a Primary teacher.  For the past three years David has truly loved the children that he and Heather had the joy to teach each Sunday. David truly loved the Lord.

Aside from his love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, David was an avid sports fan.  He stayed true to his Tuscaloosa roots and was a lifelong Bama fan, even living in the heart of Texas.  He spent many Saturdays together with his family cheering on the Crimson Tide. He was also a true Houston Astros fan from a young age. While many of David's weekends were dedicated to cheering on his favorite teams and attending worship services, he spent his weekdays working diligently to provide for his family. David worked in the service industry for decades and was dearly loved by many of his clients.  Whether he was loading and hauling hay at the local feed store, or providing in-home services for his clients, David had an amazing way of making those he served feel special.  His bright eyes and peaceful smile were contagious, and David had the great gift of making strangers his friends.  He will be truly missed by so many.

David is survived by his wife Heather Caraway Cox and son Bridger Hanks of Lago Vista, TX; his daughter, Kayla Compean of Georgetown, TX; son, Grant Cox of Cedar Park, TX; daughter, Alexis Gonzalez of Jarrell, TX; and 4 grandchildren Navaeh Compean, Serenity Compean, Cristhian Compean, and Kash Cox.  He is also survived by his brother Kevin Cox of Fort Worth, TX.

David is preceded in death by his parents Ronald David and Barbara Lee Cox.

A memorial service will be held in David's honor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 2101 South Bagdad Road in Cedar Park, TX.
