"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." Isaiah 40:8. This was one of Darrell's favorite scripture verses and was used in sharing his faith in Jesus Christ.

Darrell Johnson, 84 of Georgetown, TX, died on Saturday, Oct 21, 2023 at Baylor Scott White Hospital. He was born August 10, 1939, near Clark, MO to Carroll and Meddie (Evans) Johnson.

Darrell's professional calling was Information Technology working for various corporations, but his passion was serving God. He served others often in ways big and small; teaching Sunday School classes for many years, serving as a deacon in several churches; and as a trained chaplain made many chaplaincy visits to health institutions and homes. He most significantly illustrated God's love for others by his lifestyle example in the love he showed to his family, friends, and community.

Darrell was married for 53 years to wife Donna. Having lost both of their spouses to long term battles with cancer, Darrell and Beverly Henson, were married on October 11, 2014 in holy matrimony at Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, TX. Darrell and Beverly enjoyed a loving life together for 9 years.

Survivors include daughter, Deanna Matulia and husband Keith of Florida; son, Daniel Johnson and wife Beda of Kansas City, MO; son, David (preceded him death); six grandchildren: Stacia Pittard and husband Glenn of Ft Myers, FL, Stephanie Johnson of St Joseph, MO, Bethany Taylor and husband Dakota of Nashville, TN, Megan Buresh (preceded him in death), Amy Wirth of Harrisburg, SD, and David (Liz) of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crestview Baptist Church. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.at Crestview Baptist Church.
