Obituary

Dan Barr, 77, Georgetown, Texas, entered through heaven's gates on February 5, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with Sarcoidosis.
He was born on May 15, 1944, in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Highland Park High School, Dan attended Tyler Jr. College, where he met many life-long friends, along with the love of his life, Patricia. Upon graduation from the University of North Texas in 1967, he joined Kimberly Clark Corporation. He loved sales and his career spanned 37 years. Retirement included a final move to Sun City, where he enjoyed a two-hour trip to his beloved hunting lease in Hilda, Texas. Patricia has been heard to say that Dan fell in love with her parents, her mama's cooking, and the hunting lease that her parents started hunting in the 1960's. Dan and Patricia were married almost 59 years and had a wonderful life.
Dan loved planning trips. Canada became a favorite. He loved staying in the Railroad hotels and traveling the back roads to watch the wildlife. He loved the Cajun way of life, crawfish, and celebrating Mardi Gras.  Trips to Breaux Bridge, La. began in the 1970's. He was a season ticket holder for the Forumla 1 races and also looked forward to the Austin Rodeo. He watched Willie perform at the Sportatorium in the early 80's. His baby back ribs were legendary and rated #1 by his family. His favorite barbeque sauce will forever be from the Country Tavern in Kilgore, Texas.
Dan and Patricia had a wonderful life. They tried to fill it with joy. When asked the secret to his long marriage he simply remarked "We take care of one another". Dan had a really special quality. When you were talking to him, you had his total attention. He listened to what you were saying. Your words were important to him.
His grandchildren will miss his creative storytelling. Ben and Genevieve usually asked. "Is this going to be scary?" His reply "No, not much".   They were great Spring break visitors. Dan loved shopping for their gifts for any occasion.
Dan was predeceased by his mother, his father, and his Aunt Marguarite, along with his in-laws, James, and Louis O'Neal.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia. He leaves his daughter, Catherine Barr, along with his grandson, Samuel Marziotti, in Houston, Texas.
He leaves behind his son and hunting partner, Stephan along with wife, Genevieve in Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter, Taylor Barr in Washington DC; and a grandson, Benjamin, and granddaughter, Genevieve in Dallas, Texas;  b rother, David Barr and sister-in-law, Kathleen of Duncanville Texas; brother-in-law, Charles O'Neal, and wife Linda of Mineola, Texas, as well as loving nieces.
As per Dan's wishes his ashes will be spread near his hunting stand at a later celebration of life. Dan's unwavering faith in his Heavenly Father is the foundation, upon in which he built his life.
"I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:17
