Obituary

Craig Alan Thiry passed from this life into the presence of Jesus on January 24, 2025, in Austin, TX.

Craig was born on December 14, 1968 in Pasadena, TX.  He was preceded in death by his father Edward Clark Thiry, III; maternal grandmother Mary (Doser) Johnson; paternal grandparents Mary Louise (Kenney) Thiry and Edward Clark Thiry, Jr.; and aunts Linda Louise Hanus and Kay Thiry.

Craig was raised in Pasadena, TX and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1987.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years in Germany.  Craig continued to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for another year.

Craig was a lifelong learner and had numerous academic accomplishments.  He began his post-secondary education at San Jacinto Junior College and later attended Texas Chiropractic College, both in Pasadena, TX.  He achieved the Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree, passing his board exams on the first try.  Dr. Craig later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX.  Additional education and training in diagnosing and treating disease led Craig to become an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).  Craig also earned a Master's-level degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from Samford University in Birmingham, AL, enabling him to diagnose and treat illnesses, manage chronic diseases, and prescribe medications.  He attained the Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) credential.

For many years Craig's career focused on chiropractic care, with Craig holding jobs in Houston, Laredo, and Beaumont.  Significant changes in the chiropractic field motivated Craig to further his education and search for a new area of emphasis.  Craig moved to Austin and for the past ten years focused his substantial skills on health and wellness.  As the owner of two True Weight Loss Clinics, he shared his passion for health and wellness with others.  With compassion, Craig helped others achieve their own health and wellness goals.

Craig gave generously to his community and to his church.  He was known for being a champion for the underdog.  His legacy is that of a strong work ethic and generosity.  Craig's wife Viktoriia fondly recalls their meeting in Ukraine over thirteen years ago and their cherished times together as a married couple for the past five years.  She will miss his teasing and laughter, his love for Ukraine, and his generous support of her family.  His kindness, humor, and adventurous spirit will forever be missed.

Craig is survived by his wife, Viktoriia Thiry, of Austin, TX.

He is also survived by his mother Nancy Thiry Fowler and her husband Floyd Milton Fowler, Jr. of Alvin, TX and Floyd's daughter Terlyn Fowler of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter Samantha Anne Thiry and her son Aleksander Zdunczyk of Austin, TX; brother Erron Clark Thiry of Alvin, TX and his daughter Ariel Thiry of Austin, TX; sister Natalie Anne (Thiry) Haines and her husband Terry Paul Haines of Houston, TX and their sons Gavin Paul Haines and Reese James Haines of Houston, TX; aunt Anita Johnson Wiedner and her husband Sam Wiedner of Webster, TX; aunt Leslie Farris of California; and by many colleagues, employees, friends, and his church family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 12 o'clock at New Life Austin (3200 Century Park Blvd., Austin, TX 78727) with Pastor Rodney Shaw officiating.  A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Houston area at a later date.
