Connie Donnell Gibbs was born September 24, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Walter Levi and Sadie Lechner Donnell. On May 31, 1980, she married her one true love, William "Blaine" Gibbs III, and the two went on to enjoy a 42-year beautiful adventure that included living in Wichita Falls, Decatur, IL, part-time on the island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, and, after retirement, splitting time between Sun City in Georgetown, TX and their beloved Alto, NM.

Our dear Connie left this life on Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Georgetown, TX, after a mercifully brief illness at the age of 75.

Connie, or Mimi as her children and grandchildren called her, loved to travel and took many wonderful cruises with friends and saw the world with Blaine taking trips to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China, Europe, Hawaii, Central America, and the Bahamas. Connie was surely an Italian in her heart and loved all of the times she was able to travel to Italy and enjoy her most favorite cuisine. Connie was deeply involved in every community in which she lived, volunteering her time to help on boards and community associations in every role from citizen to President. Connie made many dear friends and was well known for creating and nurturing lasting ties with people from different states and countries—including her classmates from the Artesia (NM) High School Class of 1965 (Go Bulldogs!) --that endure to this day.

Connie is survived by her husband, William "Blaine" Gibbs III, of Georgetown, TX; her children Patrick Garrett of Odessa, TX, and Amy Garrett Matteucci of Albuquerque, NM; her step-daughters Susan Gibbs Ferritto and husband Mike, of Arlington, VA, and Carrie Gibbs of Greensboro, NC; and the true joy of her life, her beloved grandchildren Seth, Zachary, Sadie, Scout, and Gabby.

A celebration of Connie's wonderful life will be held at a later time in Sun City (Georgetown, TX) at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Helping Hands of Georgetown (1100 Thousand Oaks Blvd Georgetown, TX 78628) or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
