Dr. Clifford Alan Swayze, 86, died peacefully on April 3, 2019. Clifford was born on April 12, 1932 in Center Moriches (Long Island), New York to Clifford Groshong Swayze and Mary Louine Campbell. He served in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves, and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his military service, Clifford graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathy in 1966 with a Doctor of Osteopathy degree. He enjoyed his career as a family and emergency room physician and general surgeon in Texas. Clifford had a passion for flying and enjoyed being a private pilot and attending air shows. He also loved traveling with his family. He will be remembered as a gifted diagnostician and for his generous spirit.
Clifford will be remembered with love by his family and is survived by his wife, Alice Swayze of Leander, Texas; his children: Dr. Ava Swayze King (Eric), Dr. Cynthia Swayze Smith (John), Clifford Alan Swayze, Jr., Valarie Suzanne Swayze, and Karl Eric Swayze. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Anson Smith, Logan Swayze, Archer Smith, Sidney Swayze, Colby Swayze, Olivia Swayze, Reagan Swayze and Evelyn Swayze. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Payne, Dr. Donald Swayze (Mary Ann), John Swayze, and Norman Swayze (Patricia); many nieces and nephews; as well as his former wife, Gloria Swayze. Clifford was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Payton Rileigh Swayze; his parents, Clifford Swayze and Mary C. Swayze Palmer; and siblings: Dr. Gerald Swayze, James Swayze, Daniel Swayze, and David Swayze.
A time of visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9th in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home with the funeral service to begin at 6:00 p.m. with Brother Jim McLendon officiating. 5600 Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10th at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, in San Antonio, Texas with full military honors.
The Pallbearers will be: Clifford Swayze, Jr., Eric Swayze, Logan Swayze, Colby Swayze, Anson Smith, Archer Smith, John Swayze and John Smith.
