Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Claude Daniel Morris (Dan) and Theresa Jane Morris (Terri) on October 23rd, 2024, in Round Rock, Texas. Terri had been on hospice for the last year battling Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Dan had been battling neck cancer for the last nine months. He took a turn for the worse and went on hospice just a few days before going home to meet his Lord and Savior.

Dan and Terri passed in the comfort of their home, lying side by side surrounded by family. Amazingly, Dan drew his final breath just 45 minutes after Terri drew hers. We had whispered in Dan's ear that momma was with Jesus now so he could go and be with her too. He passed less than an hour later. It was sad and beautiful at the same time. It was a shock, but still a blessing that they went together. The love they shared was tremendous and they did not have to live one hour without the other.

Terri was born in St. Genevieve, Missouri on December 17th, 1942. Terri grew up in a large, loving Catholic family. She was raised on a farm with four brothers and two sisters. She enjoyed taking care of the younger siblings and helping around the house.

Terri moved to St. Louis after graduating from high school. There, she took a job with the electric company as a PBX switchboard operator. She worked until her marriage to Dan in 1962 and the birth of her first child, Jennifer. Terri worked various part-time jobs while being a full-time mother. Her final job was working for General Motors as an assembly line worker. That career ended after Terri sustained a brain injury on Valentine's Day in 1992.

Terri was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a strong German work ethic and always put family first. She took pride in having a spotless home and was a talented cook. She was a bargain shopper and could make a dollar stretch a mile. She was just like Dan in that she always thought of others before herself. Terri's favorite thing in the world was spending time with Dan ("my man") and family.

Dan was born in Bunceton, Missouri on May 7th, 1935. He grew up in a loving Baptist family with two siblings. After graduating from Boonville High School, he moved to Kansas City for one year for work before joining the Navy. There, he became a quartermaster in the first class.  Dan was discharged four years later and returned home. He became a master mason that same year.

He moved to St. Louis in 1959 and took a job with General Motors. Dan worked in the Materials Department and soon became a Materials Office Supervisor until retiring 33 years later. He attended Washington University for a short time in 1959.

Dan enjoyed a good turkey hunt, but quail hunting over a good bird dog was his favorite. Dan was passionate about football and baseball. His teams were the St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a man of great character. He had more patience than anyone we ever met and was the most unselfish and giving person we ever knew. Dan had a generous, kind and loving heart. He was a devoted husband to Terri, taking care of her until the end. He was the best father a child could ask for. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored him. He brought much happiness to every life he touched. Above all, his devotion was to God and family. He served in the Baptist Church as an ordained deacon from 1980 through 2017.

The couple were married in 1962 while living in St. Louis. Their two children, Jennifer and Danny, were born in St. Louis and raised there until the couple moved to Florissant, Missouri. There, the couple remained side by side while raising the two children.

In 1985, after both children had left the nest and married, and after the birth of their first grandchild, the couple moved to Warrenton, Missouri in the country.  There, they welcomed three more grandchildren. Tragedy struck in 2001 with the death of their eldest grandchild, Jaron. Then after a harsh winter, retirement, and missing the family in Texas, they decided to move to Round Rock, Texas. They wanted to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Sometime later, the three remaining grandchildren married, and a short time after that, Dan and Terri were blessed with four great-grandchildren.

Dan and Terri's quest to have a rich and abundant life was fulfilled. They both were strong Christians that loved Jesus. They will be missed greatly by all who knew them. Their legacy lives on.

Dan and Terri are survived by their children Jennifer and (Randy) Schapery and Danny Morris;  grandchildren Hailey and (Susan) Curran, Hannah and (Matt) Hagg, Hans and (Chelsea) Curran; grandchildren Jovie, Jada, Birdie and Darlene Curran; former son-in-law Peter Curran and former daughter-in-law Nina Cunningham; Terri's siblings Barbara Warden, Linda and (Jim) Harrell; Jim and (Mary Ann) Roth, Chris and (Gail) Roth, Donny and (Jane) Roth, Steve and (Joyce) Roth. Dan's siblings Gip and (Pat) Morris and brother-in-law Dave Carey.

The couple was preceded in death by grandson Jaron Morris, Dan's sister Linda Carey, Terri's brother-in-law Eddie Warden, Dan's parents Claude and Jessie Morris, and Terri's parents Norma and Leo Roth.

They also leave behind their beloved dog Fannie.

The funeral will be held at Ramsey funeral home on November 2nd at 2:00 PM.  It is located at 5600 Williams Drive in Georgetown Texas. The couple will be laid to rest in Bunceton Masonic Cemetery on November 9th at 10:30 AM in Bunceton, Missouri.

Finally, the family would especially like to thank the caregivers, nurses, and the entire team at Kindful Hospice for all their love and support. We also want to thank all the caregivers and the team at Senior Helpers for their loving care. We are also thankful for the great care provided by the Baylor Scott & White Oncology Department. All of you felt like family to the couple, and to our family as well. God bless you all for the lives you touch.
