Christine Loren
Beckwith
July 30, 1950 – February 14, 2025
Christine "Chris" Beckwith, 74 of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2025. Born in Oneida, NY on July 30, 1950, she moved with her family to Denville, NJ when she was a young girl. She is a graduate of Morris Knolls High School class of 1968, and attended County College of Morris before marrying her high school sweetheart, Jack Beckwith in 1969. Married for just over 20 years, Chris and Jack and their children Bobby and Amy lived in Mt Tabor, NJ, as well as Bothell, WA, before settling in Austin, TX in 1984.
Chris was known as a happy and loving wife and mother, and spent many years working with children, first at King of Kings Preschool in Mountain Lakes, NJ, before becoming an in-home daycare operator for over ten years. Loving and caring for dozens of children over the years was one of her greatest joys.
Chris attended the Mansfield Business School in Austin in 1990, and entered the workforce that same year, working for the State of Texas Railroad Commission's Oil and Gas Division. She later worked for the Motor Vehicle Division of the Texas Department of Transportation, from which she retired in 2007. Chris was very proud of the work she did as a civil servant for the State of Texas, and loved all of the friends she made there.
Chris will be remembered fondly for her love of movies, music (especially John Denver) and margaritas, her devotion to her beloved Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys, and especially for her love of giraffes - often referred to lovingly as "The Giraffe Lady.
Chris is preceded in death by her father, Robert Alfred Fox (dc. 1964) and mother Carolyn "Sookie" Spain Fox (dc. 2002) both of Denville; grandparents Dorothy and Claude Spain of Morristown, and Mabel and William "Bill" Fox of Canajoharie, NY; niece Veronica "Ronnie" Fox (dc. 1975), and brother William "Bill" Fox (dc. 2021) of Denville.
She is survived by her children, Robert "Bob" Beckwith and partner Desni Avary of Pottsboro TX; Amy Beckwith Janik and husband James Janik of Georgetown, TX; sister DruAnn Fox of Luling, TX; brother Robert Andrew "Randy" Fox of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; her three grandsons Brandon Beckwith, Logan Janik and Dawson Janik; her uncle Tom "Bubby" Spain; as well as several nieces and nephews: Kelly Parkhouse, Richard Beckwith, Jr. and wife Kim, Jason Parkhouse and wife Teri, Cindi Himple and husband Todd, Rebecca Howell and husband David, Kate Boyd, Luke Boyd, Nathan Beckwith, Nova Beckwith, Robert Andrew Fox II and wife Ashley, and Sean Fox.
The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Willows at Leander Assisted Living and Memory Care Center, as well as Aspen Hospice and Palliative Care - Austin North for their exceptional, compassionate, and loving care for Chris in her final weeks and days.
A public memorial service will not be arranged at this time. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a contribution in Chris's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society:
