If you will give us a few minutes, we'd like to tell you more about our beloved father, Chris. Our dad embodied the role of a family man. He was an only child and often felt alone growing up. He knew he wanted a large, loving family, and when he and Kathy married, he frequently told her about his desire for a large family. Together, they raised 4 children in Georgetown, a quiet suburb north of Austin, Texas. Chris and Kathy chose a longer work commute so their children would have a better education in a smaller school district. This was not an unusual decision as most of Chris' decisions centered around what was best for his family. He gave up his own hobbies to spend time with each of his children helping us figure out who we were. He prioritized our success as individuals and would regularly praise us for becoming well-rounded, motivated adults and told us often how proud he was of us. He let us all know how special we were to him. He taught Cristie to play poker and work on cars. He passed on his handyman skills to Tammy. He told Jennifer how proud he was of the mother she had become and told his son Shaun how proud he was of the helpful, selfless man he had become. He praised Rachel's baking skills and told Isis that he was excited for her as a new mother and loved the videos and photos she sent him of her children. He bonded with Jaxon over Looney Tunes cartoons and told Logan how excited he was for his future.

He loved the family unit he created, and he found so much joy in our presence. His devotion was unwavering and deeply felt by all those who knew him. We are having a difficult time navigating our new normal and not being able to pick up the phone and call him.  Our dad embraced technology and would send out a Good Morning emoji every day. He was always just a phone call or text away and enjoyed being at the helm of our family unit. He helped steer every decision we would make as individuals and as a family. He knew a little bit about everything, earning his place as our most trusted consultant. If we called and asked a question he wasn't familiar with, he'd read up on it and get back to us.

Chris retired 10 years ago from Austin's Capitol Metro Bus company.  Closing out a career marked by reliability and commitment. His work helped keep the city moving, and he took pride in serving so many people each day.  He enjoyed getting to know his regular passengers and often shared amusing stories of their daily adventures.

Shortly before he passed, our dad had a serious health scare. Once he knew he was on the other side of the health scare he excitedly said the first thing he wanted to do was remarry our mom. They were able to renew their vows and exchange new rings on their 51st wedding anniversary last week.  When asked, they both agreed that they would choose this life all over again, as theirs was a life full of love, family, and happiness.
