Obituary

Cherril K. Lemmink of Georgetown, Texas was born in Greencastle, Indiana on May 20, 1948 and departed this earth on January 25, 2024, at the age of 75, years after a courageous life lived with neurofibromatosis.

Cherril graduated from Greencastle High School in 1966. She became a full member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International sorority in 1970.  Cherril loved children, dogs, family and friends. In her early years, she owned an Indiana State licensed business "Jack & Jill Daycare" where she was able to show God's love and care to countless children and their families. In 1997, Cherril moved to Texas and worked with children at First Presbyterian Church, Georgetown in Sunday School, Logos, Vacation Bible School, and in Noah's Ark Mothers Day Out program. She also worked in the day care programs at Main Street Baptist and First United Methodist churches.

Cherril loved knitting, crocheting, reading, chocolate, apricots and most of all, many dogs through the years. At the end of her life, Princess was a source of comfort and joy. Princess lives on with Cherril's good friend, Elaine.

She frequently spoke of First Presbyterian as HER church family. In addition to the education programs, Cherril was a member of the Hannah-Esther Circle, a volunteer in the church library and was a trained Stephen Minister. Cherril was grateful for the many friends who supported her through rides, visits, shopping and other acts of kindness. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Sarah Hovland, Maridsa Maganas, and San Gabriel Rehab Center staff for their loving attention and medical care at the end of Cherril's life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Anita (Handy) Lemmink, her sister, Celia, and friend Polly Nelon. She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Gary (Nancy) Lemmink of Maryville, Tennessee, as well as host of friends.
