4:00 - 5:00 pm (Central time)
Charles Dean Higginbotham, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, public servant and Santa Claus, passed away on May 15, 2026.
Dean was born on September 7, 1956, to Olan and Esta Higginbotham. His upbringing instilled strong Texas values and, most importantly, empathy. He was a graduate of Belton High School and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Dean married the love of his life, Glenda Moore on January 26, 1980. Together they built a home filled with love and laughter while raising their three children in Georgetown, Texas.
Dean dedicated his life to serving others, making the community a better and safer place for all. Through his work with Williamson County Juvenile Services and the Sheriff’s Office, he selflessly helped countless individuals and families until his retirement.
Dean was known far and wide as … Santa Claus. With his warm smile, familiar beard, and joyful spirit, he brought wonder and happiness to children and families over the years. He loved making people smile, feel welcomed, and believe in a little extra kindness.
For many years, Dean also enjoyed playing the part of the Apostle Peter, in the Easter Pageant that was held in San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, in the 1980’s and ‘90’s.
On March 21, 2026, Dean married his longtime friend, Elin Criswell. They were each other's 'bonus loves' and although their time together was short, they greatly enjoyed the time God blessed them with.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Olan and Esta Higginbotham; his stepfather, William Warren; and his wife, Glenda Higginbotham.
He is survived by his wife, Elin Criswell Higginbotham; his children, Benjamin Higginbotham and wife, Melissa, grandchildren, Derek and Ava; daughter, Megan Higginbotham; and son, Jared Higginbotham and his fiancee, Janiece Attal. His step children, Becky Sharp; Daniel Criswell, and wife Jennie; along with her son and daughter in law, Abed and Faith Alkhalafat; and Susan Criswell.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Don and Ronald Higginbotham; and his sister, Mary and husband, Robert Dunlap.
Dean is lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends whose lives were better for having known him.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7th, at The Grove Church, 23911 Ronald Reagan Blvd, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Williamson County Brown Santa, 508 S. Rock Street, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
