Obituary

Charles "Buddy" Lee Barner, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in a hospital on September 21, 2026, after sudden complications from an illness. Born on March 26, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Buddy lived a full and vibrant life, surrounded by love and laughter.

Buddy was the cherished son of Charles Barner and Rosie Lee Banks, both of whom predeceased him, as did his stepfather, Louis Davis, who raised him, and his wife, Willie Mae Barner, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage from 1992 until her passing in 2005. He is also predeceased by his children Alisa Barner and Donna Sharp, and his siblings Robert Banks, Cora Lee Lee, Willie Banks, Thaddeus Banks, Esther Davis, Ellen Fumanks, and Coleman Davis.

He is survived by his devoted children, Charles Barner Jr., Angela Barner, Jennifer Cliette (Winston), and Joseph Barner, as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great granchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Buddy is also survived by his siblings Nathaniel Banks, Darnell Davis, Louis Davis, and Shirley Gray (Rosker), who will all miss him dearly.

Buddy's passion for sports was well known, with a particular love for football, basketball, and boxing. A devoted Chicago Bears fan, he was rarely far from a screen when a game was on. He also enjoyed fishing and never missed a golf tournament on TV. His humor and quick wit endeared him to all, including his caretakers, who adored him for his charming personality.

A service to celebrate Buddy's life will be held on October 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Ramsey Funeral Home, located at 5600 Williams Dr, Georgetown, TX 78633. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Charles "Buddy" Barner. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Baylor Scott and White Hospital for their compassionate and loving care during this difficult time.

Buddy's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His laughter, wisdom, and love for life will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
