Catherine Slater Long of Georgetown, Texas passed away peacefully on February 21st, 2024, surrounded by her children at the age of 93. She was born on August 6th, 1930 in Okarche, Oklahoma to William and Mathilda Slater. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High in El Reno, Oklahoma.

She was married to Lyndel Wayne Long of El Reno, Oklahoma at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Union City, Oklahoma on May 5th, 1951.

Catherine took great pride in raising her five children as a stay at home mom. She served many years as PTA President at Shady Oaks Elementary in Hurst, Texas.

Catherine was always involved in her community - she was a member of the Altar Society at St. John's Catholic Church in Richland Hills, Texas. She has been an active member of St. Helen's Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas for more than 40 years. At St. Helen's she served many years on the Good Samaritan team, cooking and baking for funerals. She was involved in several bunco groups in each place she lived for over 50 years. For 28 years she volunteered every Monday at Hand Crafts Unlimited on the Georgetown square. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed many matching dresses for her 4 girls and prom dresses when they got to high school. There are many saved barbie dresses she made that her great granddaughters are still using. She was also an avid game player, especially Scrabble and Words with Friends. She enjoyed every chance she had to play games with family and friends. When her children were grown, she served several years as secretary of St. Theresa's Church in Austin where two of her daughters were married.

She spent her last year at Grand Living in Georgetown, where she enjoyed the good food and wonderful caregivers.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Lyndel Wayne Long in October of 2021.

She is survived by her 5 children; Denise Conner (husband Paul Conner) of Hudson Oaks, TX, Cathy Meyer (husband Ernest Meyer) of Burnet, TX, Brenda Richards (husband Lee Richards) of Liberty Hill, TX, Christy Holquin (husband David Holquin) of Coldspring, TX, Tim Long (wife DeeDee Long) of Georgetown, TX. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Michelle Meyer, Alyssa Burleson, Ashli Smick, Matt Meyer, Brandon Leath, Meagan Medina, Lindsey Wellman, Heather Bales, Morgan Wheat, Chelsea Cervera, Phillip Hurlbut, Amanda Brull, Austin Long, and Taylor Martin. She also had 3 bonus grandchildren; Jill Tarkington, Matthew Holquin, and Beth Gonzalez. She has enjoyed the births of more than 35 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank her team of caregivers at Grand Living, especially Mary Ann Mobley, her favorite, and Magnolia Hospice.

She will be celebrated at a funeral mass and laid to rest by her husband Wayne, in Liberty Hill, Texas.

A time of Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25th, 2024 at Ramsey Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26th, 2024 at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice, Texas with Fr. Larry Stehling presiding.

Following the Mass, Mrs. Long will be laid to rest next to her husband Lyndel "Wayne" Long at the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill, Texas.
