Caroline "Carrie"
Murray
June 6, 2009 – July 28, 2024
Caroline "Carrie" Murray passed away on July 28th, 2024 after nearly a year long battle with adrenocortical cancer. Born to parents Jimmy Murray and Jennie Kurth on June 6th, 2009 in Round Rock, Texas, Carrie was a young woman of incredible kindness, intelligence, and generosity.
Carrie was well known among her family and friends as an avid baker, and it was her goal in life to own her own bakery. In the months before she learned of her cancer diagnosis she obtained her Texas Food Handler's license and started her own home baking business. Even once her illness prevented her from attending school she continued to bake, making more than a thousand delicious treats which she shared, free of charge, with friends, family, and community members.
When she wasn't baking, Carrie loved to spend time with family and friends, try out new types of cuisine, watch movies, and travel to new places. She also enjoyed working with her friends designing a remote controlled underwater robot, with their team ranking 9th place in the world at the international Seaperch competition. She excelled in school, managing to be in the top 5% of her Freshman class rank despite having to complete all of her work from home, and she loved participating in theatre, going so far as to travel to Dallas to attend the Texas Thespians State Festival and even act in a full length play despite the physical limitations imposed by her disease.
Carrie is survived by her loving parents, Jimmy and Jennie, her older brother, Jay, two younger sisters, Catie and Violet, step-father Eddie, grandparents James, Barbara, Nickie, Jody, and Judy, great-grandmother Lavonne, and godparents Nils and Helen.
A Memorial Service will be held for Carrie at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown on Saturday, August 3rd. There will be a visitation from 2 to 3 PM, followed by a memorial service from 3 to 4 PM, which will then be followed by a reception with refreshments served.
At the memorial service attendees will be invited to share their memories or stories about Carrie if they would like to do so.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish to do so may make a donation to one of the following places: Dell Children's Hospital, The Clay Madsen Foundation, Georgetown Go Gold, St Jude's, or the Benold Middle School or Georgetown High School Theatre departments.
Please join our family in remembering Carrie's short, yet extraordinary life.
