Candelario Zavala, 83, of Georgetown, TX passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 13th after a valiant battle from emergency stomach surgery complication's.
Candelario was born on February 2nd, 1941, to Patricio and Apolinaria Zavala in Gregory, TX.
Candelario worked as cotton picker farmer as an adolescent and traveled across Texas, Arizona and California with his family.
In 1960, he met & married Sandy (Muniz) Zavala, going on to have 5 children, Jessie, Janie, Mary Esther, Gregory, and Mary Alice.
Candelario went on to become the best tile setter in the Georgetown and Austin area for 25 year's working for A-1 Tile company, then working on his own. After his tile setting day's, he went on to work at Target for the next 15 year's. He was the hardest worker at Target and everyone could depend on him for everything.
His infectious smile & work ethic profoundly affected everyone he came in contact with. He was a humble, hard worker who loved spending time with his children, going back home to Gregory and visiting his family, watching football, loved Tejano & country music, rooting on his 49'er's, watching his children and grandchildren play their sport's. Candelario was the best cook, and anything he cooked was golden.
Candelario is predeceased by his parent's and his brother's, Juan C. Zavala and Ramon Rodriguez, sister's Antonia C. Zavala, Manuela Z. Hernandez, Andrea Torres and children Jessie and Mary Ester.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy M. Zavala; his three children, Janie Zavala, Gregory Zavala, Mary Alice Zavala, his sister's, Guadalupe Z. Lucio and Guadalupe R. Garcia, brother's, Alfonso C. Zavala, Felipe C. Rodriguez, and thirteen grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ortiz, Jessie Zavala, Levi Zavala, Jeremy Gonzalez, Victor Cruz, Larry Huerta. Honorary pallbearer Bobby Snowden.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Ascension Seton Williamson 6th floor staff for their kindness, support, and care shown to our Dad during his stay.
A time of Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 with the Recitation of the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Georgetown, Texas.
Burial will follow at Georgetown Memorial Cemetery.
A Reception will also be held following the graveside service at 1994 CR 140, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
