Brenda Elise
Jones
January 19, 1947 – August 14, 2025
Brenda Elise Webb Jones passed away on August 14, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 78 surrounded by her family and caregivers. Brenda was born on January 19, 1947, in Mexia, Texas, and was the only child of Stancil and Elise Webb.
Brenda's early childhood was spent in Houston, Texas, where she attended school. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1965. There she was a part of the Houstenettes Drill Team. In 1965, on a blind date, her future husband, Edward (affectionately known as "Bud,"), took her flying over south Houston on her first airplane ride. They married on July 1, 1966 in Houston, Texas. After Ed received his army draft notice in March, 1967 the couple moved to Ft. Wolters, Texas for him to attend flight school. Once there, Brenda settled into and enjoyed being an Army wife. After Ed's completion of flight training at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Brenda returned to Houston because she was pregnant with their first child. Ed was sent to serve in the Vietnam war in July of 1968, and was notified weeks later by Brenda that their first daughter, Kellie Elise, had been born on August 15, 1968. Since Ed was critically injured in Vietnam, he had to be medevaced to Ft. Sam Houston in 1969, so Brenda packed up their belongings and moved to San Antonio, Texas, with Kellie in order to care for him. The shortage of nurses at the time meant Brenda was not only an Army wife caring for Ed, but also a volunteer "unofficial" nurse for other wounded soldiers. After Ed was discharged from the hospital, the family moved back to Ft. Wolters, Texas. During this time, Ed and Brenda welcomed their second daughter, Stacey Lynn, on April 20,1971. The family of four moved to Austin, Texas, in November of 1972 after Ed was discharged from the Army. There, Brenda made Austin their home and cared for her family as her girls grew up; always supporting and attending her daughters' school events and drill team performances as Lanier Vikettes. Brenda worked numerous office jobs at Camp Mabry and National Annuities before becoming a grandmother in 1991. Brenda was lovingly called "Nanny" by her grandchildren. After retiring, Brenda enjoyed traveling to one of her favorite places, Disney World, as well as watching her grandchildren dance, play baseball, basketball, football and act, as she took photos at every single one of their events. Celebrating and decorating for family holidays and birthdays meant her house was always seasonally decorated and her kitchen table was filled with her homemade cooking and baking. Her most treasured memories were taking her grandchildren on special trips to London and Paris, Cooperstown, and New York City.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward Dale Jones, her daughters, Kellie Elise Jones Johnson and Stacey Lynn Jones Hefner, her four grandchildren, Haillie Elise Johnson, Zacharie William Johnson, Dalton Edward Hefner, and Jake Allen Hefner, and her great-grandson, Rowan William Johnson, as well as cousins and lifelong friends. Her family is thankful for the loving care from the nurses and caregivers at The Grand Living and JOL Hospice, as well as, Marlena Mills and the caregivers from Evening Star Care.
A funeral service will be held on August 22, 2025, at 10:00am at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr. Georgetown, Texas 78633.
