Obituary

Beverly June Hansen, 81, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on August 15, 2024 after a full life surrounded by the things she loved the most, animals, plants, and her family.

Beverly was born on September 18, 1942, in Tampa, Florida the daughter of a military veteran. She grew up in Brownsville, Texas where she found the love of her life, Steven Hansen, and they were married on December 23, 1976.

Beverly started her professional career in real estate in Los Fresnos, Texas but real estate was not to be her life's passion. In 1983, she and Steven moved to the Austin, Texas area where her passion for all things plants and flowers came to life and she became a certified floral designer. Her zeal further grew and took root in starting her own floral design company, Silk Creations, with longtime friend Fran Hickman. After a time successfully creating artificial arrangements, Beverly found more joy in creating fresh floral arrangements for all occasions with HEB for the next 10 years.

She and Steven retired to the country where Beverly enjoyed gardening, treasured visits from the grandchildren, rescuing stray dogs, cats, critters, and country living. She loved being their Memaw and as the grandchildren grew, they moved to Georgetown to be closer to them. There she continued her love of gardening and other hobbies such as sewing, floral arranging, marbling, adult coloring and loved shopping. So much so, her favorite thrift store, The Caring Place, knows her by name! When she wasn't in the garden, in her sewing room, or coloring, Beverly loved being in the kitchen cooking and baking sweets.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Doris and Pete Walker Sr., brother Pete Walker Jr., and daughter Tammy Lynn Ketchum.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Steven A. Hansen, brother, Michael Walker (Juanita), daughters Lorrie Ketchum, Cristy Spillane (Jim), Karen Lindsey (Eric Boutin), Krista Hansen. Beverly had ten grandchildren, Justin Ketchum (Marley), Brandon Ketchum (Kayla), Kathryn De Leon (Alex), Jennifer Ketchum, Bailey Smitherman (Justin), Jet Weeks, James Weeks, Cody Lindsey (Brandi Frazho), Kelsey Lindsey, Joshua Boutin (Nicci). Beverly had five great grandchildren, Blaine Ketchum, Makenna Ketchum, Kyle Youngblood, Brayden Ketchum, Kinslee Ketchum.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations made in her honor to The Caring Place (caringplacetx.org) or the Georgetown Animal Shelter (pets.georgetown.org).
