It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Betty's passing on November 10, 2024, in Buchanan Dam, Texas. Betty was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and esteemed teacher. She was born on December 7, 1927, in Salado, Texas, touched the lives of many with her kindness, wisdom, and devoted spirit. Throughout her 96 years of life, she embodied strength, grace, and a passion for learning and adventure.

Betty's journey was marked by love and dedication. She married her beloved John S. Fox, Jr. on June 29, 1946, after a serendipitous encounter at Salado Dam, where their shared journey began. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home filled with love and laughter.

As a teacher for 25 years, Betty imparted knowledge, guidance, and compassion to countless young minds, shaping the future with her dedication to education. Her legacy extends beyond the classroom, encompassing her roles as a loving mother to her children John, Tricia, and Linda, and a proud grandmother to Kelly, Jill, John Russell, Kasey, and Amanda.

Betty's thirst for knowledge was endless, reflected in her voracious appetite for reading, her talent for painting, and her intellectual pursuits. Her decision to return to college in 1961, while raising her three children, exemplifies her unwavering determination and commitment to personal growth.

In her later years, Betty found solace and joy at the lake, embracing retirement with a spirit of gratitude and contentment. Her calm demeanor and wise counsel touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have crossed her path.

Betty is survived by her children; John C. Fox (Charlotte) of Ft. Worth, TX, Tricia Fox (John Button) of Buchanan Dam, TX and Linda Simmons (Doug) of Austin, TX. She leaves behind her grandchildren; Kelly Fox of Ft. Worth, Jill Fox and husband Keith Brown of Ft. Worth, Russell Button of Buchanan Dam, Kasey Kihlberg and husband Dennis of Austin, and Amanda McCann and husband Charles of Austin.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Fox, Jr.; parents, Cecil and Bernice Northen; and sister, Norma Blansit.

The Graveside Service to honor Betty Jean Fox will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Florence Cemetery. In remembrance of Betty, donations to a charitable cause of choice are welcomed.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman who brightened our lives with her grace and wisdom, may her spirit soar among the stars, forever guiding and inspiring us. Betty Jean Fox will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Betty.
