She was born to Henry and Hilda Grau on May 3, 1933 in New Athens Township, IL. Barbara was one of three sons and six daughters. She was a homemaker, pharmacy technician, and travel agent, and loved cooking, baking, spending time with family, and playing bridge.
She married the love of her life, Robert Hoernis, on June 30, 1951. They enjoyed 69 years of happy marriage and had four children, two sons and two daughters. She and Robert were members of Santa Rosa Catholic Church.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Henry Grau; mother, Hilda Grau; brothers, Walter Grau, Charlie Grau, Nicholas Grau; sisters, Millie Steiger, Marie Procasky, Bertha Donley, Ida Miles, Regina Donley.
Barbara is survived by her son, Mark Hoernis and wife Pamela; son, Chuck Hoernis; daughter, Shelley Waterbury; daughter, Jean and husband John Lockwood; granddaughters; Jennifer Dixon, Melissa Eads, Stephanie Jordan, Hayden Coffman and Annelise Johnson; grandsons, Eli Waterbury and Kyle Coffman, and 10 great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30th, 2022 with the Recitation of the Rosary to begin at 4:30p in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31st, 2022 at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, in Andice, Texas. Fr. Larry Stehling will be officiating.
Mrs. Hoernis will be laid to rest, with her husband, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31st, 2022 at the Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery, Killeen, Texas.
